F & A Design Group is a family-owned business started by Alfred Markja. His gift is making every client feel like part of the family. At a young age, Alfred realized he enjoyed building while working construction with his father. In 2004, he decided to pursue what he loved and opened his first construction company in Umbria, Italy, alongside his father and brother. This allowed him to learn in-depth about construction and helped to perfect his skills. In 2012, he brought his passion to America, along with his wife and children. With over 20 years of experience and spanning over two continents, Alfred can guarantee nothing but quality to his clients.
The first step to any successful project is having a consultation and making a plan. Our clients meet with a project manager who will help to scope out the vision of the renovation. Clients can expect to do a walk through of the space and go over any architectural plans. During the consultation we create a timeline and budget while setting realistic expectations. A proposal which includes scope of work, timeline, and cost of project will be sent out within 72 hours.
Once a client signs with F & A Design Group we immediately start next steps. These steps often include satisfying a board’s alteration agreement, filing all relevant architectural plans with the Department of Buildings, and procurement of permits.
Materials will be ordered on behalf of our clients in preparation of renovations.
It's show time! Once plans are approved, we seal and protect the entire area of renovation. When the space is ready, demolition begins and materials are brought in. Our team works to maintain timelines and complete work to clients satisfaction.

The length of a project is dependent on the scope of work. We offer a base timeline in all of our proposals. Factors that can prolong the completion of a project are additional work or lead time of materials such as kitchen cabinets or countertop. We discuss anything that can impact a proposed timeline with our clients during the renovation process so there are no surprises.
Additional work orders mean work or materials not provided for in the contract and not considered by the (Town/City/Region/Agency) to be essential to the satisfactory completion of the contract within its intended scope. Throughout the remodeling process our clients are sometimes inspired to do a little more than originally discussed. We want you to love your space and will be happy to accommodate any extra special requests. Additional work orders can push back the date of completion and will be an additional cost to the original contract.
Building permits are issued by Municipal Building/Construction Departments and help to ensure that any work done in your municipality conforms with building code and zoning requirements that protect the safety of its tenants. We will guide you through the process of obtaining any permits needed for your project.
Progress payments are a method we find is most fair, and keeps both the client and ourselves accountable and on task. Each project starts with a deposit at the signing of a contract. The project is then divided into phases of completion. Once one phase is completed a payment will then be required to move forward to the next phase. Additional work orders will be invoiced separately as they are additional to the signed contract.
We provide standard commercial construction materials. A client is responsible for the cost difference of any material upgrades. Clients are responsible for the purchase of appliances, light fixtures and accessories unless stated otherwise in a contract.
We will make sure your space is cleaner than when we started! Let us handle the clean up.
We provide manufacturer's warranties in addition to a one year labor warranty.
